Meet the founder

Anza Tshipetane is an educationalist and social entrepreneur of note who has been named on both the 100 Nelson Mandelas of the future and 200 Mail and Guardian Young South Africans lists. Having attended public schools in rural areas all her life, she recognised the gaps and challenges that students like her had to overcome in order to reach their goals. This is why she started BYLI because she believed that quality education is a fundamental human right and should not be made a privilege. She works not only to ensure that students get quality education but that this education is meaningful to them and to their communities.

finish the 2020
academic year strong

The already existing  gap in the distribution of learning  resources in South Africa has become even worse due to the repercussions of the COVID19 pandemic. Many learners in marginalised rural communities across south Africa are struggling to adjust and keep up with their schoolwork because they do not have enough reading material. As an organisation fighting for equality in education, it is important for us to help students and address their educational needs and thus save the 2020 academic year.

Become part of this movement by buying 1 book for a student at only R150.
